want to apply for a passport. There is a spelling mistake of my dad’s name on my birth certificate while rest of the documents have correct spelling. I have done affidavit notarized and even given notification in 2 local newspaper.. Will I face any problem if I apply and provide the affidavit and paper cutout.?
Please note that the birth certificate for passport is only required for those born on or after 25th January, 1989.
If such is your case, and their is a spelling mistake of your father’s name on your birth certificate then it will have to be corrected, to be accepted by the Passport office. The affidavit and paper cutouts will not be sufficient.
To correct the error on your Birth certificate you will have to visit the concerned Registrar of Death and Birth of the Municipality where your birth took place and file an appropriate Application to get the mistake rectified.
